The Utanríkismálanefnd, or Foreign Affairs Committee, is one of the standing committees of the Alþingi, the Icelandic parliament. It plays a significant role in shaping Iceland's foreign policy by addressing matters related to Iceland's participation in international organizations, agreements with other states, trade, development cooperation, emergency relief, and defense and security issues. The committee scrutinizes legislative proposals and provides opinions on foreign affairs matters, such as those concerning territorial waters, exclusive economic zones, and the continental shelf.
