Norðurland vestra, also known as Northwest Iceland, is one of Iceland's eight traditional regions, situated in the northern part of the island. It is characterized by a low population density and an economy historically based on fishing. The region is home to the town of Sauðárkrókur, its largest settlement, and features natural attractions like the basalt rock Hvítserkur.
