Laugardalur

Staður

Laugardalur is a district in Reykjavík, the capital of Iceland, known as a major recreational and sports hub. Its name, meaning "pool valley" or "hot spring valley," originates from the geothermal hot springs where women traditionally washed laundry until the 1930s. Today, it features Iceland's largest swimming pool (Laugardalslaug), the main sports stadium and arena, a botanical garden, and a family park and zoo. The area is also a significant commercial and industrial zone, with ongoing urban development and infrastructure projects.
