Ríkisendurskoðun, also known as the Icelandic National Audit Office (INAO), is an independent institution operating under the auspices of the Althingi (Iceland's parliament). Its primary role is to oversee the finances of the Icelandic state, its institutions, and state enterprises, ensuring that appropriations and assets are used efficiently and properly. The INAO conducts audits of government accounts, financial audits, administrative reviews, and revenue oversight, and has issued reports on healthcare system funding and the DRG (Diagnosis-Related Groups) system in Iceland.
