Vinnumálastofnun, also known as the Directorate of Labour, is an Icelandic organization responsible for managing employment services, overseeing unemployment benefits, and issuing work permits to non-EEA citizens. They also handle payments related to the Unemployment Benefit Fund, Wage Guarantee Fund, and Childbirth Leave Fund. Recently, Vinnumálastofnun took over services for international protection applicants, a change that has reportedly led to children in this group lacking access to preschools, leisure activities, and after-school programs.
