Staður

Suðurnes, also known as the Reykjanes Peninsula or Southern Peninsula, is a region in southwest Iceland characterized by its active volcanism, extensive lava fields, and numerous geothermal areas. It is home to Keflavík International Airport, the primary point of entry to Iceland, and the famous Blue Lagoon geothermal spa. The Icelandic Ocean Cluster (Sjávarklasinn) is working on a project in Suðurnes to convert a former aluminum smelter into a "kelp factory" to diversify resource utilization, including aquaculture and cultivation.
