Kyrrahaf is the Icelandic name for the Pacific Ocean, the largest and deepest ocean on Earth, covering approximately 46% of the Earth's hydrosphere and 32% of its total surface area. It is bordered by the Americas to the east and Asia, Japan, Indonesia, New Zealand, and Australia to the west. The term "Kyrrahaf" has been used in Icelandic written language since at least 1819. Iceland and Pacific Island nations share experiences and collaborate on sustainable seafood, community well-being, and resilient blue economies.
