Afghanistan is a landlocked country in Central Asia that has experienced prolonged conflict. Iceland has provided humanitarian aid to Afghanistan, contributing significantly to the Afghanistan Humanitarian Fund since 2020. Iceland has also accepted Afghan refugees, particularly vulnerable women and children, and has participated in NATO peacekeeping missions in Afghanistan with civilian experts.
